Llanos Del Almendro

Review by: Jay Miller Wine Advocate: Issue 175, February 2008 Rating: 96 points Drink after 2018 The 2005 Llanos del Almendro was aged for 21 months in 66% new French oak It is a bit more approachable with gobs of sweet fruit, complex aromas and flavors, and a very long finish. Make no mistake about it, however. It will require a minimum of a decade of cellaring. In short, this is not a wine for those unable to delay gratification. This is a true vins de garde that will require much patience but in the end, it will be rewarded. Dominio de Atauta was established in 1999 with the first vintage the following year. The vineyards are 100% Tinto Fino, most of them ungrafted vines of 60+ years of age. The estate is biodynamically farmed and all wines are bottled without fining or filtration.
