The 2003 Vinha Pan, from a ripe and warm vintage, is bright and succulent, with gamey notes on the wine that not everyone will appreciate. There is a nod to Cote Rotie here, perhaps, as the barnyard and the acidity combine to coat the palate. I rather liked this nonetheless, as its grip and penetration on the finish were very good. Its lively demeanor made the wine vibrant, and there is enough flesh to the fruit to balance out the acidity and gamey notes. Tannins emerge with air, and provide support for this wine. It should age gracefully. It will always being on the bright side. Drink now-2017.
