Amancio

Review by: Jay Miller Wine Advocate: Issue 169, February 2007 Rating: 92 points The 2002 Amancio is sourced from a single 37-acre Tempranillo vineyard. It received malolactic fermentation in new French oak followed by the "200% new oak" treatment (popularized by Dominique Laurent in Burgundy) over a 24 month period. Opaque purple-colored, with lots of toast (but not an excessive amount) in the nose as well as spice box, blueberry, and blackberry, the wine offers good flavors in its medium to full-bodied personality. Forward and internationally styled, it could use a bit more depth and concentration but it is nevertheless a fine effort from a difficult vintage. Review by: Thomas Matthews Wine Spectator: Issue November 30, 2005 Rating: 93 points Drink now - 2015 Rich and plush, in the full international style. This big red shows lavish oak, with chocolate and toast flavors, but has plenty of black currant fruit for balance. Muscular, well-integrated tannins promise long life. Best from 2007 through 2015.
