The recipe for Pernod is a slight variation of the original recipe for absinthe, an herbal elixer made from 15 exotic herbs steeped in alcohol. Licorice flavored and yellow-green color. A popular aperitif in Europe, often mixed in a tall glass with cold water (it will turn a milky color). May also be mixed with grapefruit or orange juice. Often used in cooking recipes
